Wow! That was a great critique. Well done, Neera. I feel as though the struggle and the effort of actually writing, drawing, and posting seem like where my efforts should go and be enough. Deep down inside, it's startling and disconcerting to discover that I have to market too. Even though I know that marketing is required, this takes me back to when I led a group of fifty creatives. It was easy for me to promote their work. It's much harder for me to promote my own. The old question of whether or not I'm worthy comes up. Painful stuff!
You are welcome Ted. It was a pleasure to do a deep dive with your question and specific problem. Please ask me more questions. Specific ones if you like. That will give me something to work with and also grow my own newsletter. Also, it's always easy to promote others than your own work. I suffer from the same problem.
Having written a blog in past, I can honestly say I am much more excited about Substack and all that can come of it. Thank you so much for all your marvelous information.
You gave them real things to decide and examples to decide with. Most folks do not have marketing skills and that hurts them.
I’d add, be true to the kind of reader you want to attract. Since decolonizing is one of my red threads, I choose to not create hyperbolic and misleading headlines lots of marketing folks teach you to use.
It’s a choice and a decision, who do you want as readers and subscribers?
So many good points here, Neera. I see several that I should
—and will— implement. Thanks.
You are welcome Denis. How are you going? Which reminds me I haven't yet read your book. I will try and get to it this week.
I know I’m way behind on catching up with everything but this is absolutely platinum information for everyone to use
These tips are pure gold. ⭐️
I am glad they are helpful Alex. Thanks for letting me know.
You always make a lot of sense Neera, a lot of great ideas for those who wish to progress.
Thanks Sally. I try to do my best. You are going strong with your paintings. I see you sharing something new almost every day from your vault.
Excellent piece Neera! Thanks!🤩
Thanks Mila.
