#100: Where To From Here
In the previous issue of Behind the Scene, I talked about how come we all are becoming content creators and the future of content creation. I want to continue the story from there.
If we want to make it as writers in this decade (I say decade because nobody knows what changes the next decade will bring) we need to know where readers are going.
The research says in 2000, an average reader had an attention span of 12 seconds. In 2015, it was 8 seconds. No one knows how long it will be in 2030. One this is sure, it is decreasing.
On the writer’s side, the lines between fiction and non-fiction writers are blurring. Several fiction writers are writing non-fiction books to add another stream of income to their portfolios. They often chose one aspect of their craft whether it is plotting, pitching or publishing write a book about it and then teach it via online courses. And they are regularly writing content to sell their books either on Medium, Facebook, Goodreads, Pinterest, YouTube and more recently on BookTok (aka TikTok).
