Richard and Maurice were running a barbeque restaurant in Los Angeles, but it wasn’t doing very well. So they took a little break to decide what to do. They audited their sales receipts to see which products were selling more. Once they found out, they wondered: why don’t we focus on these products that are doing well? So, courageously, they slashed their menu from 25 items to a mere 9.
Thank you Sue. I am struggling with subtraction a big time. As I was writing the post an idea has been growing in my head to start a new publication on Medium. I was telling it, I have no time. I need to subtract not add. But it is not going away. It sitting by the door constantly knocking to let it in. I might have to.
Or might say to it, "Dear Idea, please go to someone else head. I have too much on my plate!" I don't know what will I do.
I thought you might benefit from watching this you tube video interviewing the author of "Eight Crafts". I found some value in watching it myself. Thanks
What a wonderful post! I agree that while it's difficult to subtract things doing so does often benefit the things still there. It is also a challenge to refrain from making the subtraction/simplification process overly complex! Ha!
I appreciate your book suggestion and will look forward to more in your future
