High likes don’t always equal high trust.
And without trust, you don’t build a lasting writing business, you just create content that entertains for five seconds and is forgotten in six.
I learned this the hard way.
In July last year, I wrote a note about my writing achievements. I had published 5 books by then and it was a milestone I was proud of. I hit “publish” without expecting much. But then, it took off.
That one note landed over 1826 views and 393 likes. Another one I wrote a few weeks before got a similar reaction. Both were among my most engaged notes ever.
But guess how many subscribers I gained from those semi-viral moments?
Just over 30.
Which, to be honest, was… underwhelming.
It made me realize something important: attention is cheap, but trust is expensive.
People might clap for your story, but that doesn’t mean they’re sticking around, reading deeply, or buying from you later.
If your goal is to build a meaningful business around your writing, then applause isn’t enough. What you really need is connection. Credibility. Trust.
And trust doesn’t come from going viral.
It comes from showing up consistently, writing with honesty, and helping your readers feel seen.
That’s what we’re focusing on today: How to write posts that build trust, not just engagement.
